Superficial femoral vein transposition as a solution for hemodialysis vascular access

چکیده

Abstract The significant growth in the number of individuals dependent on hemodialysis for renal replacement therapy and unrestricted use short long-term catheters have challenged vascular surgeons search solutions patients whose options access via upper limbs been exhausted increasing rates central venous stenosis these patients. When is impossible, exceptional techniques can be used lower offer feasible alternative sites hemodialysis. This article reports a case superficial femoral vein transposition to make loop arteriovenous fistula patient with no possibility presents literature review this technique that remains little used.

Basilic Vein Transposition Used as a Tertiary Vascular Access for Hemodialysis: 15 Years of Experience

INTRODUCTION The quality of the life in patients requiring long term hemodialysis is directly proportional to the long-term patency of their vascular access. Basilic vein transposition for vascular access (BAVA) represents a suitable option for creating a tertiary native vascular access for hemodialysis on the upper extremities for patients requiring long term hemodialysis. The purpose of the s...

Long-term results of femoral vein transposition for autogenous arteriovenous hemodialysis access.

INTRODUCTION When all access options in the upper limbs have been exhausted, an autogenous access in lower limb is a valuable alternative to arteriovenous grafts. We report our experience of transposition of the femoral vein (tFV). METHODS From June 1984 to June 2011, 70 patients underwent 72 tFV in two centers (Paris and Meknès) with the same technique. All patients had exhausted upper arm v...

VASCULAR ACCESS FOR HEMODIALYSIS: OUR EXPERIENCE WITH 3337 CASES

Over a seven year period from 1982 to 1989,3337 conduits were created in 3137 patients with end stage renal disease (ESRD) as access for chronic dialysis. These included 2690 side-to-side arteriovenous fistulae (A VF), 168 end-to-side A VFs, 10 autogenous vein grafts, 51 homogenous frozen vein grafts, 109 polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) grafts, 209 emergency external arteriovenous shunts, t...

Repeated femoral vein puncturing for maintenance haemodialysis vascular access.

BACKGROUND When access cannot be achieved using a native arteriovenous fistula or a synthetic prosthetic graft, central venous catheters are usually placed. This mode of access is short-lived, prone to infection, stenosis and thrombosis of central veins. To overcome access problems, we developed a new native vascular access ('femoral vein access') and devices. We report here on our experience w...

[Vascular access for hemodialysis].

Reference is made to a personal series of vascular accesses for haemodialysis on 273 patients aged 6 months to 70 yr. During the course of 12 years, 533 operations were performed: 109 cannulations of the saphena, 152 by-pass, 251 arteriovenous fistulae (including 22 on patients under 10 yr of age), and 21 "difficult accesses". An assessment of the advantages and disadvantages of the techniques ...
